the Dunes Course
There are a very few places in golf that evoke the senses like the Monterey Peninsula. The quality of the golf courses, the incredible environment, and tournament history distinguish the peninsula as one of the cathedrals of golf. To have earned the opportunity to re-craft one of the seven courses on the peninsula at this stage in our design careers was an amazing opportunity.
With the completed Dunes Course accompanying Mike Strantz’s Shore Course masterpiece, MPCC joins a small echelon of clubs that can lay claim as the finest 36-hole facility in golf. JKD’s continuing relationship with MPCC is one that is both an incredible honor and source of professional pride.
The Dunes Course at MPCC broke back into Golf Digest's Top 100 Greatest Courses following the renovation in 2015. Read more here...
"JKD did a phenomenal job of taking our Dunes course from good to great. As a result of the remodel, the course now has magnificent dunes on several holes. The greens have unique, interesting shapes and now vary in size from 3800 to more than 11,000 square feet. Previously straight fairways now flow naturally with the seaside topography. Bottom line: JKD met every one of our goals. Our membership loves the new Dunes course; the aesthetics are world-class, it is challenging from all tee sets...and it's fun to play!"
